People fought with Life itself to give some sort of meaning to their insignificance; (In empty hopes and shallow graves) Trenches, dug by hollow delusions to which they became slaves, Climbed further down, whilst defences rose higher to shelter them from Truth's sniper bullets; And no-one there broke rank to condemn. A creeping barrage hid the enemy from their blinded eyes And left them dead. |
