The War to End All Wars

There laid a battlefield shot rife with raging warfare.
People fought with Life itself to give some sort of meaning to their
insignificance;

(In empty hopes and shallow graves)

Trenches, dug by hollow delusions to which they became slaves,
Climbed further down, whilst defences rose higher to shelter them from Truth's sniper bullets;
And no-one there broke rank to condemn.

A creeping barrage hid the enemy from their blinded eyes
And left them dead.
